So...who knew that babies were so time consuming!! I'm writing this just under 4 months since our little one arrived and turned the world well and truly upside down for us! To say it has been an overwhelming time would be something of an understatement. I'm not sure you ever really get into the swing of having a baby but, after the blur of the first 2 months we may (fingers crossed) be finding our groove a little more.
Enough of the boring baby stuff though (well, not quite), you want to know what I've actually created right? Well, not a lot...but that's ok, I'm going to cut myself some slack as I did create a human after all...

So here is my finished Spring Garden Hexie Blanket with our little human...my favourite makes of 2019 for sure! I took this blanket to Yarndale with us this year and got SO many lovely comments from people, I hope Henry treasures it always and knows how much time and love went into making it for him.

Next up is yet another scrap yarn project (I only have 3 on the go already) that I couldn't resist. This crochet shawl, made from randomly picked sock yarn scraps, is going to be a long term project but it is bringing me a surprising amount of joy considering the complete lack of control over colour combos! The pattern is the Nobodys Perfect Shawl by lovely Emma of Potter and Bloom.
Progress on my scrap yarn projects has pretty much ground to a halt so I think an intervention is needed and some kind of rotation schedule (strict stuff I know).

I have been promising my hubby a knitted pair of socks pretty much since we got married and he has been patiently (but not quietly) waiting. I'd love to say that he will get his pair for Christmas this year but I am notoriously slow at knitted socks. I love watching the yarn work up but a growing sense of dread as I approach the heel always slows down my progress...I really need to get a handle on heels as I would love to have a whole drawer full of hand knitted socks (sorry hubby, you get just one pair). The pattern I'm using is the good old Winwick Mum Basic Sock pattern.

Next up is the Kiria Cove shawl by Tamy Gore, I'm determined to further my knitting skills before the year is out (leaving it late I know) and Tamy was SO helpful when I asked her advice on which of her patterns would help me do this. I am knitting the shawl in my Sea Glass colourway on 4ply sock yarn. Frustratingly I have just noticed a mistake I've made....the only saving grace is that I noticed it because two other people on Instagram made the same mistake (not alone, phew!). I'm all for mistakes being "design features" so I expect I will plough on and just start knitting the correct pattern repeat, now I've worked it out, rather than pulling it back.

Finally this month is this knitted baby hat for little one. I'm using my own yarn (Sandy Toes and Salty Kisses on DK) and the pattern is the Barley Hat by Tin Can Knits. I love their Simple Collection range and am planning to slowly work my way through it to help improve on my knitting.
Right, sounds like my time is up (I really need to perfect my naptime hustle!). Fingers crossed for longer naps in November as I'm SO missing my dyeing and keen to get back into it soon.
